American River Bike Trail

If you are interested in biking the Sacramento River, you should consider taking a bike ride along the American River Bike Trail. This paved multi-use path connects Beal’s Point at Folsom Lake to the confluence of the Sacramento and American rivers. From here, you can ride your bike north into Folsom.

The American River Bike Trail follows the course of the American River, which was first explored by a famous fur trapper in the early 19th century. It is home to a rich diversity of wildlife, which is why it’s a great place to bike. A prototype cycling organization, Capital City Wheelmen, originally developed this route. When automobiles arrived in the early 20th century, it was abandoned as a commuter route, but cyclists rediscovered it as an excellent biking path in the 1970s.

The American River Bike Trail is a popular multi-use path that runs between Folsom Lake and Discovery Park. It extends northward to the Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento, and is a great place to go for a bike ride. It also provides plenty of shade in the hot summer months.

Another option for biking is the Sacramento Northern Bikeway, which offers scenic views and a less crowded environment than other areas. The city of Sacramento has also incorporated a JUMP Bike program, which aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve the quality of life in the city. Additionally, the Yolo Causeway Bike Path runs from West Capitol Avenue in West Sacramento to County Route 32A east of Davis.

Another option for cycling in the Sacramento area is the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail, which runs parallel to the American River. This paved path is one of the longest bike paths in the country. It connects with the Sacramento River Parkway Trail on the west side. The County of Sacramento maintains the trail, and mile markers are painted every half mile.

On the Sacramento Historic River Cruise, you will cruise the Sacramento River in a twin-decked river boat that holds up to 120 passengers. While you’re on board, you’ll hear a detailed commentary on the city’s history. You can also enjoy live music and drinks during the Alive After Five cruise or the Rock The Yacht cruise featuring DJs. On land, you can visit the California Museum on O Street and learn about the state’s history.

Another Sacramento attraction worth seeing is the California State Capitol Museum. This state building, modeled after the White House, is the state’s governmental seat. Its theater plays informative films and the rooms are designed to resemble governor’s offices in 1906. It is also home to many collections, including fifty historical flags.

If you’re looking for a date night, a Sacramento Ballet performance can be the perfect choice. Another great option is the Sacramento State Archives. Here, you can find the first law signed by the state’s first governor. And don’t forget about the Handle District, where you’ll find trendy boutiques and restaurants. You’ll also find fascinating discoveries at the Smud Museum of Science and Curiosity.
