Linden is a city in Union County, New Jersey. It is part of the New York Metropolitan Area and is about 13 miles south of Manhattan. It borders the borough of Staten Island. The population is approximately 43,738 as of the 2020 census.
Thomas Edison Historical Park
Thomas Edison is best known as the “Wizard of Menlo Park.” Located in West Orange, New Jersey, this park features a museum that celebrates Edison’s life and works. The Menlo Park Edison Museum showcases his first organized research and development laboratory and attracts visitors from 63 different countries. In 2019, it had visitors from all 50 states. Thomas Edison National Historical Park is a preserving of the residence and laboratories where Edison lived and worked from 1886 to 1931. The park is self-guided and includes the inventor’s laboratory, stockroom, machine shops, and music room. Visitors can tour two floors of the main laboratory building.

In 1956, the Roselle Lanes bowling alley became the first in the country to install Brunswick Automatic Pin-setter machines. The Watson-Stillman hydraulic works on Aldene Road was home to the first Bathysphere. And the Cavalier Jouet home still stands on East Second Avenue.
Liberty Science Center
Located within the Liberty State Park, the Liberty Science Center is an interactive learning center and science museum. In addition to a number of hands-on exhibits, the center features a planetarium, which is the fourth largest in the world. The museum is open daily for the public, and admission is free. Nearby cities Carteret and Linden have recreational parks that you can visit. While it is not as picturesque as Rahway River Park, Joseph Medwick Park offers a lot to visitors. It features expansive baseball and football fields and tennis courts. It is a great place for active people and is popular with families and locals. It is also a great place to enjoy a picnic.
Another great place to visit is the Ernest L. Oros Wildlife Preserve, which is about 15 minutes away. Here, you’ll find lots of birds, snakes, and turtles. It is a hidden gem that many people don’t even know exists.
